The Uruguayan was linked to am move to Real Madrid but the PSG’s manager Thomas tuchel wants the player to stay at the club.
The manager is confident that the player will opt to stay at Parc des Princes when the Transfer Window closes.
In talks with the reporters, the Paris Saint Germain boss said, “This is my feeling and I have not heard such a thing [that Cavani wants to leave], I spoke to him and he didn’t mention anything.”
“He said he is looking forward to joining us [in pre-season]. He is a key player for us.”
The boss also denied rumours of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl to the club. There were reports from Germany that the player will reunite with his former coach if Dortmund successfully complete an expected move for Tianjin Quanjian’s Axel Witsel.
Weigl was performing at his best under the leadership of Tuchel. Tuchel though insisted that there has been no deal stated between the clubs.
“He’s agreed with us? No, no, that’s not the fact, as far as I know,” he added.
“And I hope I know what is going on! Of course, there are rumours since I signed here because he was the kind of player that joined with me in Dortmund and had a great career and great development.”
“He is a player a lot of teams in Europe would like to have in their squad and he can help a lot of teams, but right now there is no such thing in the next days.”
