Liverpool have been matched with Bayern Munich for the Champions League Round Of 16 fixture and Jurgen Klopp is delighted to go up against his former rivals.

The German boss also revealed to us two clubs he was hoping to avoid before the draw.

“There were only two clubs I didn’t fancy. Dortmund, that early, and a little bit of Juventus. They are so experienced and it is their defence is very experienced. It will be really difficult to beat Juve this year.”

“Bayern is really nice for our supporters. I am not sure if many Liverpudlians were at the Audi Cup but they should go. It’s really nice. A few years ago, you would have heard Bayern Munich and think, ‘wow, no chance.’ But now we have a chance, and they know it as well.”

Klopp is hoping to replicate and better previous season’s performances in the Champions League. However, he has the immediate concern of going through a busy winter schedule while maintaining the team’s spot at the top of the Premier League.

The Reds triumphed over rivals, Manchester United on Sunday to position themselves a point ahead of reigning English champions, Manchester City. Without much injury concerns, Liverpool are well positioned to win major titles this season, especially with the talent pool Klopp has acquired.
