Mauro Icardi and Javier Hernandez on Arsene Wenger’s shortlist

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen on signing two new strikers over the summer with Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi and Bayer Leverkusen’s Javier Hernandez on top of his wishlist.

The Gunners have struggled for goals in recent weeks, failing to net in each of their last three Premier League games, and that drought has seen them crash from top of the table to fourth in just a matter of weeks.

With Olivier Giroud the only recognisable striker at his disposal, Wenger is keen on adding more options over the summer, despite Theo Walcott‘s desire to become a striker and Danny Welbeck‘s return from injury.

According to reports, Icardi and Hernandez are the two on Wenger’s radar, with both reportedly set for exits at the end of the current season.

Duo Likely to Leave?

Icardi has had a major fall-out with Roberto Mancini which could confirm his exit from the San Siro, whilst Leverkusen officials have already admitted they may have to start planning for life without Hernandez.

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of Icardi, but their interest in Hernandez has come since his move away from Manchester United. The Mexican has found his feet in Germany and has already netted 24 goals in all competitions for the Bundesliga club.

The Gunners will more than likely face competition for the strikers however, with Chelsea previously linked with Icardi and Liverpool linked with Hernandez.
