UEFA Champions has released the long awaited list of nominees for the Player of the Year award.

UEFA shall be awarding the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, and forward – and all nominees are in these categories.

Bayern is taking the lead for having the most number of nominees, which frankly, doesn’t come as a surprise, considering their performance this season. Bayern currently have seven players listed as nominees out of 12 total players!

The nominees for Men’s Champions League are as follows:

Goalkeepers: Keylor Navas (Paris Saint-Germain), Manuel Neuer (Bayern), Jan Oblak (Atlético de Madrid)

Defenders: David Alaba (Bayern), Alphonso Davies (Bayern), Joshua Kimmich (Bayern)

Midfielders: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Thomas Müller (Bayern), Thiago Alcántara (Bayern)

Forwards: Robert Lewandowski (Bayern), Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain), Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain)

For the women’s Champions League, Lyon is taking the lead – for reasons similar to Bayern.

And the nominees for the Women’s Champions League are as follows:

Goalkeepers: Sarah Bouhaddi (Lyon), Christiane Endler (Paris Saint-Germain), Sandra Paños (Barcelona)

Defenders: Lucy Bronze (Lyon), Lena Goessling (Wolfsburg), Wendie Renard (Lyon)

Midfielders: Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir (Lyon/Wolfsburg), Dzsenifer Marozsán (Lyon), Alex Popp (Wolfsburg)

Forwards: Delphine Cascarino (Lyon), Pernille Harder (Wolfsburg), Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal)

On 1 October, 2020, all winners shall be declared during the 2020/21 Champions League group stage draw.

  1. Comment:In the women category Vivinne Miedema of Arsenal fc supposed to be the winner comes October 1,2020.The reasons behind that are numerous,therefore the uefa chieftains should do justice to the issue at stake.
