Unai Emery refuses to address Aaron Ramsey contract situation amidst speculations regarding his future.
Ramsey is on the last year of his contract and was supposed to extend his association with the club. Negotiations had been on full swing but a sudden u-turn has reversed the situation and now it seems the Wales midfielder would see out the remainder of his contract.
Emery has mostly used Ramsey in an advanced midfield role rather than his usual central midfield position. The 27 year old recently assured he won’t be moving in the January transfer window and is likely to be in contention for selection when Arsenal host Leicester City on Monday.
Emery said, “For me January is very far, I’m thinking Monday first and I want every player staying with the mentality and the preparation for playing together to win
“My focus is every single match. The future is tomorrow, no more. I want the mentality for the next match, individual things are not for me to speak on now.”
“I want his performance like any other player.
“The last match he started on the bench and played 25 minutes with this performance. Monday, [I expect] the same, if he will start in the first XI or the bench, to be with the focus to help us like another player, no different.”
