Unai Emery is looking forward to creating history as Arsenal set to host Tottenham Hotspur in a much anticipated North London derby on Sunday.
A win over Spurs would help Arsenal in sneaking into the top four for the first time this season. The change of guard at Arsenal has driven up the North London giants forward so far and it remains to be seen how they fare in this closely contested affair.
Under Arsene Wenger’s tutelage it used to be a one sided affair as the Gunners swept away all the honours but since the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino, the situation has changed to some extent.
The Argentine’s arrival at the North London brought in a sense of competitiveness and Arsenal have lost on three occasions during Pochettino’s reign at the club.
Emery said, “Each match, like this derby, is different. We want to create a new history – it’s a different moment for Tottenham and for us.
“They are going to play for the first time [against] players with us – the coach and all the staff.
“We want to start playing one derby like that, with a good experience. But above all, in the 90 minutes, we [want to] show everybody a good performance and energy.
“I know from living in Spain and France, different matches like this, and I want to feel this match here with our supporters at the Emirates.
“I know it’s going to have a very big atmosphere for us, and we want to win, first as it’s a derby, but also for the three points because in the table we need to continue in our process.”
