In a major setback to Arsenal, Unai Emery has revealed Hector Bellerin could miss up to weeks after suffering an injury in the 3-2 defeat against Southampton.

Bellerin joined the already growing list of injuries at the Emirates. Rob Holding has been ruled out for the season while Shkodran Mustafi has been dealing with a hamstring injury.

Dinos Mavropanos is yet to play in this season and Emery now has a real selection headache as the Gunners are due to enter the festive period with a relatively busy fixture lining up ahead.

The North London giants are scheduled to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup quarter final on Wednesday and will play four Premier League matches including a big ticket clash with Liverpool in a span of 10 days.

Emery confirms Bellerin’s unavailability. “Bellerin has a small injury – he is going to be some weeks off, I think.

“Sokratis is coming back and we will see how Mustafi and Kolasinac are, and it is good news Koscielny can be with us for the next matches. It is not a good result but it was important for us [to have them back].

“We are going to wait tomorrow and Tuesday, and Wednesday we are going to play, and then Saturday also. We need every player.”
