Manchester United are interested in bringing in AC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong to Old Trafford this summer.
It is understood that United boss and current Netherlands manager Louis Van Gaal has told his executive vice chairman to persue the Dutch player as he believes that De Jong can add extra strength to the currently ‘weak’ midfield.
Van Gaal trusts De Jong and has admired the player even since he took over as Holland manager.
De Jong currently has 12 months left on his Ac Milan contract and it appears United are willing to pay £6m for the player’s signature.
The midfielder is currently playing under Van Gaal in Brazil, where he has started both games and has done an impressive job so far during the World Cup.
