Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian will become a Juventus player when the summer transfer window opens in June, reports claim.

The full-back has fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho, who has installed Antonio Valencia as United’s No.1 right-back. Darmian has made just 4 Premier League appearances this season despite being a regular in his first campaign.

Corriere dello Sport claims Darmian has given up on resurrecting his United career and everything has been agreed to take the Italian back to his homeland. United and Juventus have reached an agreement and Darmian will replace ageing full-back, Stephan Lichtsteiner, at his new club.

Mourinho is prepared to let Darmian leave and the 28-year-old will complete the switch at the end of the season. The Red Devils are confident they can break-even on the £13million they paid for the defender in 2015.

Mourinho is expected to make several additions to his backline in the summer after hinting he was happy with the forwards at his disposal.
