David De Gea contract expires at the end of the next season and is yet to sign a new contract.

The goalkeeper is thought to have just begun talks over a new contract with the club. United are eager to fend off interest from Real Madrid. De Gea has consistently been linked with a transfer to Real after a switch in 2015 collapsed in the final hour.

Red Devil fans will be eager to see one of the world’s best remain at the club. But De Gea insisted he is not thinking about extending his contract.

“I don’t think it’s the time to start talking about the future, it’s not the time to be talking contracts,” De Gea told Sky Sports.

“We have lots of games between now and the end of the season and the first thing we need to think about is Burnley this weekend.

“It’s all about getting your head down, focusing, working hard, competing in training, keeping fit and picking up points.”

United travel to Burnley on Saturday on the back of two straight wins after drawing their three previous league games.
