Ernesto Valverde was full of praise for Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba’s partnership after defeating Celta Vigo.
The Blaugrana won their contest against Celta Vigo in their last match in the La Liga and kept their place at the top of the table.
Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has said that Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba understands each other perfectly and has hailed their partnership on the pitch. The duo was influential in Barcelona’s win in the last match against Celta Vigo, which ensured their dominance in the La Liga once again as they went three points clear at the top of the table.
Speaking to the media after the match, Valverde said, “Alba and Messi understand each other perfectly and it keeps on working. We broke their defensive line well in the first half. They wanted to reduce the space inside, but the room was behind their defence and that’s where the first goal came from. In the second half we were more tired, we didn’t have the ball as much and we wanted to play very fast.”
Both the players combined well in the match against Celta and both the goals came off their combined efforts. Lionel Messi scored his 15th goal of the season from an inch-perfect delivery by Alba, which helped the Barcelona captain reach another milestone. Apart from scoring 15 goals in 15 matches so far this season, the mercurial Argentine has also assisted his teammates 10 times this season so far. Valverde’s men will take on Getafe in their next outing in the La Liga.
