Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has said that he is not concerned about extending his contract with the club. Barcelona ended their winless streak by defeating Sevilla 4-2 last night. Goals from Philippe Coutinho and Lionel Messi gave Barca a 2-0 lead within the first 15 minutes. Despite Messi leaving the field injured, Barca did not slow down. Second half goals from Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic gave Barcelona a 4-0 lead. Sevilla pulled two goals back but by then, it was too little too late.

Following the match, Valverde said that he does not care about extending his contract which expires at the end of this season. Valverde said, “My future at Barca does not matter to me, I do not care. I’m focused on the two matches that come and the noise that there is always around the team is the usual and you cannot do anything.”

Valverde joined Barcelona in 2017, succeeding Luis Enrique. In his very first season, he guided the club to a La Liga and Copa del Ray double.

As a result of the win, Barcelona are back at the top of the table. Their next match is a Champions League fixture against Inter Milan.
