Ernesto Valverde has hailed the addition of Frenkie De Jong at Barcelona as an important one.
The Dutch midfielder was the latest player to sign for the Blaugrana this January.
Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has said that Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong is an important addition for the Blaugrana. The 21-year-old player was the La Liga leader’s latest signing and he will be joining them ahead of the next season. The player has been one of the most highly rated midfielders in Europe at the moment with big names like Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain also looking to sign him but the Dutchman chose the Catalan giants over the Premier League and Ligue 1 champions.
Speaking to the media after the signing was completed, the Spanish gaffer hailed De Jong as “An important addition” and said, “A player with quality and a future that we think is a signing with a long perspective for Barca and we wish him the best. His success will be the success of the club.”
The Blaugrana have also signed the former AC Milan and Schalke forward Kevin Prince Boateng from Sassuolo as a backup for Luis Suarez with the business end of the season coming up.
