Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has praised the club’s record signing, Angel Di Maria’s attitude and has said that he believes the Argentina international will remain at Old Trafford next season.

The ÂŁ59.7 million pound summer signing has failed to live up to high expectations at the Red Devils, even after early signs suggesting that the winger could potentially become one of the star’s of the season.

With rumours circulating in the past few months stating that Paris-Saint-Germain were ready to snatch Di Maria in the upcoming transfer window, United boss Van Gaal has revealed that it is up to the player where his future lies.

When questioned about what would happen next for the midfielder, the Dutch manager replied: “I think Di Maria shall stay. He cannot say that he has had a marvellous season here, but he is working very hard. I am pleased with his attitude, so that is not a problem.”

“The manager and the club is always dependable on the opinion of the player himself. The player decides, so we shall see what he decides. The decision is not only [down] to him because we have a contract, so we shall speak always with every player and evaluate, as I always do. Then we speak with each other about the future, and that is [the case] with every player.”
