Van Gaal orders United clear-out

New Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has already put his feet under the table and has made it clear that as many as TEN players are facing the axe.

The Dutchman is determined to put United back on the right track to win the Premier League next season and is ready to overhaul the failed squad that Moyes put together last year.

This means that the likes of Ashley Young, Wilfried Zaha, Marouane Fellaini, Bebe, Anderson, Tom Cleverley, Nick Powell and Nani could all depart Old Trafford in the coming weeks.

And with left-back Patrice Evra almost certain to join Italian side Juventus, and with Javier Hernandez seeking a move elsewhere, this could mean that there are many gaps left for United to fill.

However, The absence of European football this season, following their seventh-place finish under Moyes and caretaker boss Giggs, means Van Gaal will not need such a large pool of players from which to choose.

United’s new boss is understood to want to operate with a squad of around 24 or 25 men – which would mean a significant scaling down of the group he inherits.

Van Gaal also wants to promote youth player into the first team squad, with the likes of Jese Lingard and James Wilson being tipped to take the step up.

The former Ajax, Barceona and Bayern Munich boss has looked to develop young players at every club he has managed and is keen to do the same at Old Trafford – although several more big-money signings are planned this summer.

But it appears that Vidal and Di Maria could slip between United’s fingers after stalls on talks that were advancing well, but have hit recent snags.
