Dutch boss ready to let two strikers go ahead of new campaign
Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has shortlisted three candidates to bolster United’s strike force ahead of their Champions League return.
The Premier League giants were absent from Europe’s elite competition this season, due to last season’s failings, and Van Gaal is prepared to make serious summer acquisitions up front.
Tottenham Hotspur’s top goalscorer Harry Kane is one target, alongside Real Madrid’s France international Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani of Paris Saint-Germain.
Falcao and RVP heading for exit
Van Gaal is looking to add to his strikers, knowing that flop Radamel Falcao is to leave and so could Robin Van Persie.
Therefore Wayne Rooney is in need of some support, as the Red Devils prepare for their European return.
Benzema is thought to be available for around £40 million, with Arsenal also interested in the Frenchman, who scored 23 goals for Real this season.
Cavani is thought to be fed up with life in France, so would definitely consider a move to England for the first time in his career.
While Kane is happy with life in north London, he may be swayed by a chance to play in Europe’s top competition.
