Dutch striker is looking for a return to England

Fenerbahce striker Robin van Persie could be set for a shock return to the Premier League with either West Ham United or Crystal Palace.

The 34-year-old, who played for both Arsenal and Manchester United, during his 11-year spelling in the Premier League, is understood to want to return to England, with his family failing to settle in Turkey.

Both West Ham and Palace have been contacted by the player’s representatives, with the Dutchman specifically wanting a returning to the capital, and a move could definitely be on the cards.

Van Persie joined Fenerbahce in 2015, after falling down the pecking order at United, and netted 17 goals in 44 appearances for the Turkish side last season. And news that the player is eagerly hoping for a move could cause both London outfits to battle it out for his signature.

The Hammers’ bids for Alexandre Lacazette have been rejected by Lyon, while Palace look set to miss out on Michy Batshuayi to Chelsea, with the player set be announced as a Blues player in a matter of days.

Van Persie was prolific in the Premier League, and the chance for either side to sign the Holland international will likely be one too good for either of the sides to turn down, unless they both sign their first-choice targets.

The striker is set to cost ÂŁ4 million – around the same fee the Fenerbahce paid to United – but would be a big price cut on the ÂŁ30 million Liverpool want for Palace-target Christian Benteke.
