Carlos Vela has decided to miss out on returning to the Emirates this summer and has signed a contract extension at his current club, according to Antoine Griezmann.
The 25 year-old striker was heavily linked with an Arsenal return this summer, with reports suggesting that Arsenal had activated a £3.2 million buy-out clause in Vela’s contract.
However, it appears this is not the case as fellow Sociedad team-mate Griezmann has revealed that Vela has indeed signed a new contract at the Spanish club.
He told ESPN Mexico: “I’m talking to you in Spanish because of Carlos. He’s a top player; there’s no-one better. We have a great relationship on and off the pitch because we’re good friends.
“He’s relaxed. He’s already signed a new contract and he’s looking happy.
“I don’t know where my future lies yet. Hopefully I’ll be able to stay, but we’ll have to see what happens.”
