Agent of Spaniard has confirmed move likely in New Year

Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes will leave the club in January, according to his agent.

The Spaniard has been frozen out of the club since falling out with Louis van Gaal during pre-season, when the Dutchman accused the ‘keeper of refusing to play for the U-21s.

Valdes was then not given a squad number or a club suit, and was banned from the first-team training facilities when members of the first-team were present.

Interest in ‘Keeper

Since being frozen out, the veteran has been linked with shock moves to Premier League rivals, Chelsea and Liverpool, with the former looking for cover due to Thibaut Courtois‘ injury and Liverpool wanting suitable competition for Simon Mignolet.

However, Chelsea have just landed Marco Amelia on a short-term deal, meaning their need for Valdes is not so much anymore.

Another club reportedly keen on the Spaniard is Newcastle United after finding out Tim Krul will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

Agent Expects Transfer

With a few clubs reportedly keen, Valdes is expected to move on from Old Trafford in January, and his agent expects that’ll be the case.

“I’m sure [he will leave the club in January], I’m ready for it. It’s clear he has to leave and we’ll try to make sure he’s happy and feels comfortable,” Valdes’ agent told AS Diario.

“In my personal opinion he won’t come to Spain, unless he says something different. He had the chance to join Valencia but having played for Barcelona it is complicated.”
