Every now and then we just love watching footballers miss, It can be just as good as watching them score.
It takes a certain type of miss to bring about such a moment. A miss of almost awe-inspiring inaccuracy. A miss that pushes the bounds of what’s physically possible. A miss that the footballers in question couldn’t recreate if they tried.
One of the worse even seen was in Guangzhou R&F’s 2-2 draw with fellow Chinese Super League side Changhcun Yatai, the Congolese-Dutch forward charges into the opposition box to meet an inch-perfect cross. He slides toward the ball about three yards out, the keeper stranded and the goal gaping.
He then somehow balloons his effort sideways and out for a goal kick. Much to his teammates’ utter bafflement.
