Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany has revealed that he cannot wait to come up against in-form Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney at the weekend in the first Manchester derby of the season.
The Belgium international was in a race to be fit in time for the big derby game and made his first appearance of the season on Tuesday during the club’s Champions League game.
As for Rooney, he has had a great start to the season, scoring four and setting up four and despite looking dangerous, Kompany has admitted that he cannot wait for the task of marking the Englishman.
“It’s brilliant he’s doing so well again,” said Kompany.
“You want to play against top players at their best. That’s personally how I feel about it.
“I always want to play against players when they are at their best. I’m really happy for Wayne that he’s on top form.
“This is the great thing about the Premier League, you play against top strikers all the time. But there are many players to watch out for in both teams.”
