Virgil van dijk says that Liverpool will remain grounded

Liverpool began their Premier League campaign with a 4-0 drubbing of West Ham at Anfield. However, Virgil van Dijk says that the club remain grounded despite the win.

Van Dijk said, “We’ve seen the media writing about us as the new champions and stuff but we don’t really look at those things. We need to just focus game by game. We want to do well. We want to achieve greater things so we need to be ready for any challenge, any battle that comes to us.

We are very well prepared, we were looking forward to this game and I think everyone could see it.”

Reigning champs Manchester City also began strongly by beating Arsenal 2-0 on their home turf. Virgil Van Dijk said that City is not Liverpool’s concern at present. He said, “For us it is key that we don’t look too much at other teams. We need to look at ourselves and be ready every week for any opponent we face. That is key at the moment.”

The Dutchman also said that the club’s new summer signings have settled well at the club. He said, “Personally it was very easy for me to settle in. How the boys treat you, how the staff are, how everyone around this beautiful club is, the fans. It is pretty easy to be fair in my opinion and I think they’re doing very well.”

Liverpool play their first away match of the Premier League on Monday against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
