Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is unaffected by Manchester City’s sparkling form in the Premier League.
City defeated Manchester United 3-1 to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League table. Pep Guardiola’s side has been steamrolling all the opponents and is currently the front runner to defend their Premier League crown this season.
Liverpool too have had an excellent start to the season but they had their fair share of difficulties off late as they lost against minnows Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League to make things difficult for them.
They did manage to shrug off their problems by getting the better of Fulham in the Premier League but they really need to ramp up the intensity to catch the League leaders.
The Dutch defender feels they need to concentrate on themselves as it would be not easy for every team to survive. “They are the champions and the best team in the league but we will try everything to be as good as we can.
“We don’t have to look at others, we want to look at the games we have and the next challenge we have at Liverpool is Watford away, which is going to be tough.
“The season is very long. They [City] are not going to win every game 5-0 and are going to have tough games like everyone else.
“We need to look at what we have ahead of us and that is more important than looking at someone else. It is the only way forward.”
