The winger admits he and his wife placed a friendly bet which he won thanks to his goal against Stoke on Saturday

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has revealed he has earned himself a new coffee machine after scoring his 10th goal in all competitions for the Gunners this campaign.

The 27-year-old netted the equalising goal in the first-half as the Gunners came from behind to beat Stoke 3-1 at the Emirates, thanks to second-half goals from Mesut Ozil and Alex Iwobi.

Walcott’s wife had promised him a new coffee machine if he reached double figures before Christmas, which he has duly achieved.

It’s been the Southampton academy graduate’s best goal return since the 2012/13 season in which he netted 21 times.

“Time to get the coffee machine my wife promised me!” said Walcott.

“I’ve got my 10 for the season at the moment – I want to make it much, much more.

“More importantly, I want this team to win something, but it is all down to hard work.

“I’ve been working really hard and I think it’s just breeding into the whole team, and that’s what the team is about.”

Saturday’s win didn’t just bring early Christmas delights for Walcott in the form of gifts, but also points.

Their win put them top of the table on Saturday for a brief spell before Chelsea regained their three-point advantage at the Premier League summit, with a narrow 1-0 win over West Brom at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
