Hornets looking for recruitments after promotion to the Premier League

Newly promoted Watford are looking to add former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien to their squad this summer.

The Ghana international is currently at AC Milan, but according to reports he won’t be offered a new contract at the end of the season. This means he can leave the San Siro on a free transfer once his current deal expires.

Despite offers from Major League Soccer clubs in the United States of America, Essien could make a surprise return to the Premier League by joining Watford.

Can Essien’s experience help Watford avoid the drop?

Hornets boss Slavisa Jokanovic wants to add some Premier League experience to his squad, in order to consolidate his team’s status in England’s top flight. He believes Essien can help Watford avoid the drop back to the Championship.

The 32-year old spent eight-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge, making a total of 256 league appearances at the Blues.

The defensive midfielder joined AC Milan from Chelsea in January 2014.
