Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney will make one final appearance for England during the forthcoming international break. Rooney will have his swansong against USA on November 15 at Wembley. His last match against England came in a World Cup qualifier against Scotland in 2016.

Gareth Southgate and the FA have made the decision to include him in the squad against USA. The match will also be called ‘Wayne Rooney Foundation International’ to support Rooney’s charitable works.

Rooney is England’s all-time scorer with 53 goals and his 119 appearances which will soon be 120, is the second highest in England’s history and the highest for an England outfield player.

Rooney said, “I am truly humbled and hugely excited to play for England at Wembley again. I would like to thank Gareth Southgate and The FA for inviting me back and helping to support my Foundation in the process.

Playing for England was the greatest honour of my career – so winning my 120th, and final, cap will be a particularly special moment for me. It’s fitting that the match will be against the USA and I hope that both sets of fans enjoy the game.”
