Antonio Conte hailed his players after beating Arsenal, but called for them to improve further as they chase the Premier League title.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte praised his league leading side after victory over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, but insists that they can still improve even further as they push closer towards the Premier League crown.
Speaking after his sides win over London rivals Arsenal, Conte said:
“I’m pleased for our win but disappointed by the goal we conceded,”
It’s a pity. It’s so important to improve and keep the concentration in the right way from the start until the end. We conceded some chances to Arsenal – but we also created our own chances.”
The Blues found themselves leading 1-0 at the break thanks to Marcos Alonso’s close-range header, but it was a brilliant solo effort from Eden Hazard that got Stamford Bridge rocking.
The Belgian beat a host of Arsenal players during a run that started inside his own half, including seeing Francis Coquelin fall to the ground in an attempt to stop him – Â before he calmly provided a finish beyond Petr Cech, before the former Chelsea goalkeeper gifted Cesc Fabregas a third.
Conte admitted his players deserve all the recognition they are getting.
“It was a good game – it wasn’t easy,” Conte added.
“Arsenal are a good team with technical players. We played with good intensity and organisation – both offensively and defensively. I’m pleased for all my players – they deserve it because in training I see great attitude.”
With his side so far ahead now in the race for the title, it’s hard to imagine that they can improve any further this campaign, but if Antonio Conte’s introduction to the English top flight has taught us anything, it’s that Chelsea are capable of transforming and adapting their game whenever the Italian demands it – a trait that sees them now 12 points clear at the top.
