Leicester City star plays down title-talks

Leicester City cannot win the Premier League, according to Riyad Mahrez.

The Foxes are currently top of the table after 15-games, but their Algerian star has played down title-talks and has claimed they cannot win the league.

Leicester are leading a four-way pack of Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City, but he’s insisted that they aren’t even thinking about winning the title, and are only thinking about reaching 40-points.

This is despite already being on 32 points after 15 games.

No Title Talk

“I don’t think we can win the league,” the 24-year-old told BBC World Service.

“We just need to get the 40 points and then after that we will see.”

Mahrez Confident in Ability

Mahrez has been in stunning form so far this season for Claudio Ranieri, alongside striker Jamie Vardy, and the midfielder has admitted he’s not surprised by the form he’s showing.

“I’m not surprised because I knew I could do the things that I have done,” Mahrez added.

“Football is just confidence. When you start scoring and you carry on it gives you more confidence so maybe that has helped me.”
