We hate to concede, says Koscielny

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has admitted that the whole back-line hate the feeling when they concede a goal, and that is the main reason behind their improvement.

The Gunners kept their 18th clean sheet on Sunday during their 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace and they are now starting to look like a solid unit as a back-four, which is something that had been questioned over the past few seasons.

Their 2-0 win meant that in the past 11 home games, they have only conceded once, and that was against Everton during their 1-1 draw.

Speaking after the victory, Koscielny admitted that his team-mates hate to concede and that is why they don’t do if regularly.

“The team needs all the players on the pitch to do their defensive job,” Koscielny told Arsenal Player. “It’s very important because if you want to win, it’s easier when you concede no goals.

“I think the defenders hate to concede a goal so we work hard to keep clean sheets and we did well today. We need to continue to work hard like this for the other games.

“It was physical against Crystal Palace. In the first half we played well but we didn’t find a solution. In the second half with Alex [Oxlade-Chamberlain], we scored quickly and after [we got] the second goal. After that you can be calm because after 2-0 we did the job but kept calm.”
