Gareth Bale scored a fantastic free-kick to help 10-men Madrid to a 4-1 win against Galatasaray at the Santiago Bernabeu on wednesday night. Madrid played 3 quarters of the game with 10 men after Sergio Ramos was shown red for dragging back Umut Bulut as he broke clear on goal. Bale got the opener but Bulut equalised for the Turkish Champions just after a minute. Alvaro Aberloa restored Madrid’s lead then set up Angel Di Maria to make it 3. Isco then rounded off things the scoring with a wonderful piece of skill before sliding the ball home. Madrid top group B with a game to spare.

Juventus moved from bottom to second in the same group with a 3-1 with over Copenhagen in Turin with Arturo Vidal scoring a hat-trick that includes 2 penalties.

Manchester United crushed Bayer Leverkusen 5-0 in Germany. This result sees Leverkusen slip to third after Shakhtar won their game 4-0 against bottom clun Real Sociedad. United welcomes Shakhtar in the last game while Leverkusen visit Sociedad.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was on the score sheet when PSG beat Olympiakos 2-1 to help them qualify to the next round. While PSG were securing top spot in Group C, Benfica also improved their chance to qualify by beating Anderlecht by 3-2.

Manchester City who like Bayern Munich had already qualified before wednesday’s game, beat Viktona Plzen 4-2 thanks to two late goals by Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko.

Wednesday night saw 36 goals being scored in 8 games.
