Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has contradicted Theo Walcott by confirming that the club HAVE begun contract talks with the winger.

The England international took to Twitter to put to bed reports that there had been a fallout between himself and the board at Arsenal, and also stated that he hasn’t even started discussions with the club over a new deal.

However, Wenger has contradicted the winger by saying talks are ongoing and he hopes the pacy winger stays at the Emirates.

“We start to negotiate with Theo to extend his contract. Personally I would like to keep him.” he told beIN Sports.

Walcott wants a pay-rise on his current ÂŁ90k-a-week deal, but according to reports, due to his serious injury, Arsenal officials don’t want to offer him anything more.

Liverpool and Manchester United are both monitoring Walcott’s situation ahead of a potential Summer bid.
