Arsene Wenger is ready to splash the cash on Benfica starlet Goncalo Guedes to ensure he doesn’t miss out on one of Europe’s hottest properties.
The Benfica forward has been dubbed ‘the next Ronaldo’ and Wenger is prepared to spend £40 million on the youngster to prise him to the Emirates and the Premier League. There is fierce competition for his signature with Arsenal attempting to fend off PSG, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to make him a Gunner.
The Portuguese club seem to have one of the most highly regarded youngsters in Europe at the moment and are set to offer the 17 year-old a new five year deal which would include a £40 million buy-out clause.
It is understood that the Portugal Under-19 international would favour a move to the English game and Arsenal chiefs are keeping tabs on the situation so they can bring him to the Emirates and make him the club’s second most expensive player in their history.
