Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has warned Everton boss Roberto Martinez that a different Liverpool will turn up next Tuesday than the one that hosted Aston Villa on Saturday evening.

The Toffees boss was in the stands at Anfield and watched on as The Reds struggled against Villa which resulted in them dropping points only for the second time at home this season.

Andreas Weimann and Christian Benteke did give Paul Lambert’s men a 2-0 lead, but Daniel Sturridge and a Steven Gerrard spot-kick pulled the scores level to 2-2 and that is how it ended.

After the game, Rodgers admitted that his side were not at their best, but he is also feeling confident that they will be ready for next Tuesday’s Merseyside Derby.

Rodgers said: “(Martinez) will know how I work and knows how my teams work.

“But he will know it will be a totally different game here for the derby.

“It wasn’t one of our better days (against Villa), but we’ve had many great games here.”

“We’ll be ready for the derby game for sure.”
