The Hammers have been on the lookout for a new striker to add to their side

West Ham are close to completing a deal for former Man United star Javier Hernandez, according to reports today.

The Hammers have been in talks with the player’s current club Bayer Leverkusen over a potential deal over the last week or so and the deal is reportedly now close to completion.

The fee is likely to be a meagre ÂŁ13m for a player who bagged 13 goals and three assists in all competitions last season in 36 games and is also a quick and pacy player.

Hernandez also has Premier League experience due to his time at Old Trafford and when given the chance for the Red Devils, he proved he could step up to the task.

It’s proof that the signing could be a huge boost to West Ham, as he has scored goals in the Premier League before and also in the Bundesliga.

The 29-year old himself is believed to be keen to move back to the Premier League, so Slaven Bilic is confident that terms can be agreed and a deal can be reached sooner rather than later.

If Hernandez does complete a deal to join the Hammers, he will become the third player to move to the club this summer, with Joe Hart and Pablo Zabaleta both having made the move to the club already.

In addition, the club have also agreed a fee with Stoke for the signing of Marko Arnautovic, so that could be a fourth player to sign with West Ham.
