West Ham Fans Relieved After Jose Mourinho Sacking

West Ham United fans are understandably relieved to see Jose Mourinho head towards the Manchester United exit door.

The Portuguese manager was a long-time admirer of the Hammers forward, Marko Arnautovic and reportedly had pushed for a transfer earlier as well. With the January window rolling up, the West Ham faithful were fearing for the loss of their star attacker.

Even with Ed Woodward’s reluctance to offer Mourinho with any more funds, it was always a possibility with the former Real Madrid man still in charge at Old Trafford.

Now the Hammers can rest easy with Arnautovic no more drawing links with the Red Devils. Manuel Pellegrini has found a winning formula with the team and are currently on a 4-game streak, beating Fulham last weekend 0-2.

Arnautovic is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury but has been West Ham’s leading figure this term with 5 goals and 2 assists. Originally Mourinho wanted to bring the Austrian over to serve as a second-string option behind Romelu Lukaku.

Ed Woodward might sanction money for caretaker boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make improvements. While Manchester United try to bridge the gap between them and the top four spots, Pellegrini will look to keep the Irons in line to climb further up the table. Keeping Arnautovic for the remainder of this season, if not till his contract end is absolutely necessary for West Ham.
