Hammers respond to reported Liverpool interest
West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan has labelled Liverpool’s reported interest in Manuel Lanzini as ‘irrelevant’ due to the Hammers having first refusal over the Algerian star.
Lanzini is currently on a season-long loan at Upton Park after agreeing to leave Al Jazira over the summer, and his fine start to Premier League life has sparked interest from the Reds.
The 22-year-old has netted four times this season for Slaven Bilic‘s men, and Jurgen Klopp has reportedly highlighted him as a potential target ahead of the January transfer window.
However, Sullivan has revealed that West Ham have first refusal over the midfielder so are not feeling worried about Liverpool‘s interest.
First Refusal
“Manuel has been a fantastic signing for the club and we all hope he can maintain this superb run of form for the rest of the season.”
If either West Ham or Liverpool do want to sign Lanzini permanently, they will only have to cough up ÂŁ5.5million, which is the buyout clause in his contract.
