West Ham loan League One defender to help with crisis

West Ham United have turned to League One in order to help their current defensive crisis, and Sam Allardyce has brought in Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Roger Johnson on loan until the end of the season.

Despite his parent club being Wolves, Johnson has been playing in the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday for the season so far, but it now appears that he is ready to move up to the Premier League with The Hammers desperate to add some depth to their depleated squad.

It is believed that Johnson will go straight into the team for Wednesday night’s Capital One Cup semi-final againt Manchester City, but only if the club can register him in time.

Allardyce hasn’t had any luck recently with injuries to Winston Reid, James Collins and James Tomkins, so he is now looking at possible loan deals for centre-backs, with Johnson from Wolves and Joleon Lescott from Manchester City, being his main two targets.
