Egyptian has failed to impress at Chelsea

West Ham United are set to make a shock summer bid for Chelsea midfielder Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian has failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge since joining them from FC Basel last January, and he’s expected to leave the club permanently ahead of next season.

Salah’s Stalling Career

Salah spent the second-half of the 2014/2015 campaign out on loan with Serie A side Fiorentina, which was agreed to after The Blues signed Juan Cuadrado.

The 23-year-old had a very impressive loan-stint with the Italian side and has caught the eye of several potential suitors, with West Ham thought to be one of them.

Hammers Keen on Egyptian

The Hammers are set to have a busy summer after they replaced Sam Allardyce with Slaven Bilic, and after it emerged that Dimitri Payet was to join from Marseille, attentions now turn to Salah.

It’s thought Chelsea want around ÂŁ17million for the winger, but West Ham may launch a formal offer just below that valuation as they feel his price-tag should be lower after his failed stint at Stamford Bridge.

Long-Term Future

Despite the interest in Salah, Chelsea still believe he may have a long-term future in West London, and Jose Mourinho is tempted to send him out on loan to a Premier League side so that he can get some valuable experience in England’s top-flight.

Salah is unlikely to break into Chelsea’s first-team, with Eden Hazard, Willian and Oscar all the mainstays in Mourinho’s starting XI.

West Ham will continue to track Salah’s situation throughout the summer.
