West Ham United are keeping their tabs on Gary Medel.
The Chilean international, who is known for his versatility as a defender as well as a midfielder, is currently plying his trade at the Turkish club Besiktas.
West Ham United are reportedly in the pursuit to land Gary Medel this January. The player has been one of the better performers for his current club Besiktas, which have been fighting for financial stability and might look to offload some of their stars, with the east London club looking to take advantage of the situation.
The Hammers themselves have been struggling to find a stable footing in the Premier League this season, following a disastrous start to their campaign with key players like Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere and Manuel Lanzini serving long terms on the sidelines with injury worries. However, Manuel Pellegrini has been able to instate belief in the team and the Hammers are looking to turn things around in the Premier League with four wins on a trot in their last four matches.
The club, however, has not commented on their speculated pursuit of the 31-year-old Chilean defender cum defensive midfielder, but according to Sky Sports, the West Ham officials are set to travel to Turkey to start negotiations with Besiktas. Medel has previous experience if playing in the Premier League with Cardiff City, who had sold him to Inter Milan following their relegation in the 2013/14 season.
