Hammers want to sign Arsenal veteran
West Ham United are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta, according to reports.
The veteran centre-mid is currently nursing an injury for the Gunners, but he is likely to return in the next few matches ahead of the final few months of his career in North London.
It’s widely reported that Arsenal won’t be offering the Spaniard a new contract at the Emirates Stadium, meaning he will become a free agent at the end of the season.
Despite this, officials at Arsenal do want to offer Arteta a coaching role at the club, but with the 33-year-old still likely to continue his footballing career, he could move on.
West Ham Interested
According to reports, West Ham are believed to be interested in signing the midfielder and could offer him a contract at the end of the season.
If Arteta does move on it would see the end of his five-year association with the Gunners, where he helped them win two FA Cups and two Community Shields.
