West Ham United midfielder, Pedro Obiang have established himself a crucial figure in the club lineup and Italian outfits have taken notice of the 26-year-old’s talents.

The defensive midfielder was already attracting attention from Serie A outfits previously but Manuel Pellegrini chose to keep him despite signing Carlos Sanchez last summer. The Italian news outlet, Gianluca Di Marzio claim that Florentina are targeting Obiang after watching him command the Hammers midfield this season.

The Viola were the ones who sold Carlos Sanchez to before the start of the 2018/19 campaign. However, without the Colombian, Stefano Pioli finds himself short of personnel in the midfield and would like to bring in Obian to fill up the vacant spot.

Obiang spent five years at Sampdoria before making the switch to West Ham in 2015. He did not have the most prolific start to his Hammers career but has impressed in recent times when given a run in the first-team.

Manuel Pellegrini does have a host of players currently out injured especially in midfield. The Chilean boss has added Samuel Nasri into the mix but might still hesitate to part ways with his leading defensive figure around the centre circle.

Obiang, who has appeared 17 times for West Ham this season has a contract set to run till the summer of 2022.
