Fulham yesterday banned boss Rene Meulensteen from talking about any transfers whatsoever in a bid to head off any more controversy.

But Hammers No.2 Neil McDonald said: “I would imagine everybody has a price.

Asked if the Hammers want to keep the England under-21 star, he added: “Why not? He’s a talented player and we need talented players.

“He’s an important member of the squad and we want to keep as many important members of the squad here as possible to try and help us move up the league.

“It’s more hearsay that he is leaving. We have to act that he is here and going to stay here. All I can say is we want him here.”

There have been claims that Morrison may try to force a move by going on strike.

But the player denied that yesterday calling it “lies”.

He added: “I’ve been working really hard over the past few weeks to get back to full fitness after missing a couple of recent games with a groin injury.

“I’m feeling fine now and I’m hoping to be involved in Saturday’s important game with Newcastle and then the Capital One Cup semi-final with Manchester City on Tuesday.

“I always try to keep my focus on the next game and show people with my performances on the pitch that I want to do well for West Ham United.”

McDonald added: “There seems to be a story about Rav every week. Rav has had a bit of groin injury, but we’re managing that.

“He trained on Wednesday with a huge, big smile on his face with the rest of the squad.”

Meulensteen said: “I am not going to make any comments because it is going to get me into trouble.

“It is wiser at this moment in time that we are not going to comment on anything that is happening in regards to any transfer news or speculation.”
