The striker is surplus to requirements at Anfield

According to the Daily Star, Mario Balotelli isn’t looking to leave Liverpool because of a clause in his contract.

The Italian international has been heavily linked with a move away from Merseyside, after flopping since his ÂŁ16 million move from AC Milan last summer.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has even forced the 25-year old to train away from the first team with other outcasts Fabio Borini and Jose Enrique, who also weren’t invited on the Reds pre-season tour alongside Balotelli.

The centre forward’s agent secured his client a clause

However, Balotelli isn’t trying to prise a move away, as his agent Mino Raiola secured him a loyalty bonus that is ‘six-figures’ long before he signed his deal at the club.

If Liverpool can’t move him on in this summer transfer window, he will collect his loyalty bonus as well as receiving ÂŁ80,000-a-week for the rest of his two-year deal.

After deadline day, the only way the club will be able to get rid of the controversial centre forward is to buy him out of the rest of his contract. Otherwise, they will have to wait and see what unfolds in the January window.
