The Dane was strongly linked with a move to the Spanish capital last summer.

However, few months later, he has ended up at Inter Milan.

Zinedine Zidane reportedly vetoed a move for former Tottenham star Christian Eriksen despite the midfielder having a verbal agreement with Real Madrid. The 27-year-old finally sealed a move from Tottenham after signing for Serie A side Inter Milan in a €20 million deal.

However, he had been linked with Los Blancos for nearly the entirety of last summer with Tottenham, where his contract was due to expire in the summer of 2020. Eriksen reportedly had his heart set on a move to Real Madrid, and according to AS, the club had an agreement with the player verbally – only for Zidane to turn down the chance of a deal.

Madrid opted not to go ahead with a transfer as they already had enough numbers in midfield.  Zidane is also thought to be keen on giving youth a chance at the Bernabeu and the signing of Eriksen would have made it harder for the likes of Martin Odegaard to breakthrough next season.
