Wilfried Zaha Claims He Needs More Protection

Wilfried Zaha has asked for more help from the match officials following Crystal Palace’s 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the Premier League.

The 25 year old scored a brilliant solo goal on his return from injury and his strike was enough to seal three points for the Eagles. Zaha has been severely criticized for being too soft on fouls but he feels has been targeted by opponent defenders a number of times.

The former Manchester United forward has drawn 11 fouls this season which is only lesser than the fouls committed on Leicester’s James Maddison, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Will Hughes of Watford.

Huddersfield’s Mathias Jorgenson was cautioned by the referee but the players feel the match officials are not doing enough to protect him. “I know that for a fact [opponents are out there to hurt me] but I just don’t know what to do anymore.

“I end up arguing with referees because today the guy studded me in my shin – do they need to break my leg before anyone gets a red card

“Last week at Watford he jumped on my calf. What more do I need to do to get the same treatment as other players?

“I can’t say anything else. I just have to do my best and not lose my temper and play football.”
