Wilshere was hopeful of returning to action against Stoke, but will now miss the tie.

The midfielder suffered an ankle injury during training earlier in the season and was expected to miss two months.

Arsene Wenger has today revealed that midfielder Jack Wilshere has suffered a “little setback” in his return from injury.

The Gunners manager was hopeful that the midfielder would be fit for Saturday’s match against Stoke City at the Emirates Stadium, but is now uncertain when Wilshere will return to training.

Wenger Unsure

“I have not seen (Jack) him in the last two or three days.

“He is progressing slowly and I can’t tell you much more about it. I will talk with my medical staff today.

“It is slower than expected as I expected him to be back and available after the break but unfortunately he will not be available for Saturday.

“He had a little setback and I have to know about it but I can’t tell you much more as I have no medical information.”
