Bundesliga club Wolfsburg have confirmed that Luis Gustavo will remain at the club, despite interst from Arsenal, reports the Metro.

Gustavo has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past week or so, jusy as he was a year ago, before the Brazilian decided to sign for Wolfsburg from Bayern Munich.

And now Arsene Wenger was lined with him once again, as the Gunners boss looks to bolster his midfield options, with the transfer window closing on Monday evening.

The news will come as a bitter blow for the Gunners, with the manager Dieter Heckling stating to German media:

‘A lot of rumours. He wants to stay. We want to keep him,’ he said.

Wolfsburg, who will face Everton in the group stage of the Europa League this season, have also pulled out of the race to sign Arsenal’s 29 year old forward Lukas Podolski.

Podolski emerged as a potential target for the Bundesliga club last week, having slipped down the pecking order at the Emirates, and is set to remain this summer, despite interest from Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Besiktas.

‘I think he is a good player but he will stay with Arsenal. We have finished our recruitment.’
