Nuno Espirito Santo has praised his side’s display following a 1-1 draw against Manchester City in the Premier League. Wolves are the first team this season to snatch a point from the title holders which is expected to give the newly promoted side a massive boost.

Willy Boly gave the home side a lead through a controversial header which appeared to touch his hand but Aymeric Laporte reduced the deficit from a header to deny Santo’s side from a famous win.

City dominated the proceedings and created a number of chances but Wolves defence stood tall as City endured a frustrating evening. Santo applauds his players for their brilliant performance. “The players deserve credit. the way they worked and prepared themselves, we knew it would be tough but we worked for it, played the way and style and shape we believe, and individually we were fantastic.

The gaffer went on to add, “We are happy with the performance, but the result is not what we wanted – we want to win. I’m very pragmatic about controversy, I don’t look at the replays, but that’s the game, it’s what we have to be ready for. If you score, react, it’s what you do after. If you get a goal against, how you react, don’t think about whether it was bad luck, focus on the game.”
