Wolves Could Sign Diego Costa On A Free Transfer

Wolves are being heavily linked with recently-turned free agent, Diego Costa.

Atletico Madrid and the forward mutually agreed to terminate his contract making him an excellent option for teams to puruse.

In his heyday, Costa wrecked havoc in the Premier League when he was with Chelsea. He won two Premier League titles and a League Cup before being shipped back to Atletico in 2017.

Costa could never really regain his form in an Atletico shirt, dropping behind Alvaro Morata and Luis Suarez in the pecking order. His lack of goals started to weigh heavy on Diego Simeone’s side which was why an agreement was found to get him out.

Costa is still only 32 and closing in towards the end of his career. What he can offer is some threat up top. The Spaniard still has his strength and wits around, two traits he used to bully defenders in England.

Wolves are a good side with one of the best strikers in the league in Raul Jimenez. However, if he gets injured the Wanderers lose a massive attacking threat. Costa could add some of that vigour as a backup.

Nuno Espirito Santo will have to tame Costa’s explosive behaviour if he plans on getting him but could really get a strong personality in his dressing room.
