Xavi Hernandez gave his latest take on Bayer Munich fullback and Germany international, Joshua Kimmich, calling him the perfect fit at Barcelona.
The former Barcelona player is currently stationed in Doha, Qatar, still playing professionally for Al Sadd SC. He met with Kimmich and the Bayern squad when the Bavarians travelled to the middle-east for warm weather training during the winter break.
Speaking to the press, Xavi revealed, “I talked to Pep and he told me: ‘I have a player who can play in every, literally every position!’ I asked: ‘who is he?’ Pep told me about a guy named Kimmitsch.”
“I knew right away that he could become a great player. He would be the perfect player for Barça, but Bayern is also at the same level and you can still achieve a lot. He is a defender but can play perfectly in midfield as a number six. He can be one of the best players in world football in several positions, maybe he already is.”
Bayern have since returned to Germany to face off against TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. Xavi might have sparked off some rumours regarding Barcelona’s plans but it is highly unlikely that Kimmich will be moved out of the Allianz Arena any time soon.
The 23-year-old is one of the most talented young footballers in the world and is a key element in the Bayern lineup.
